Job summary

The Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS) seeks a Recovery Residence Quality Assurance Coordinator to oversee quality assurance inspections of recovery residences across Virginia and to develop corrective action plans. The role reports findings to the Substance Use Quality Assurance Manager and other key stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Experience in substance use disorders treatment and recovery.
• Understanding of recovery dynamics, recovery supports, recovery capital concepts, and methods (12-step, MAT, MI).
• Familiarity with recovery residence communities and related resources.
• Experience in audits, inspections, QA procedures, and regulatory compliance (federal/state/local health and safety, NARR, Oxford House, SAMHSA).
• Experience tracking, documenting, and reporting quality levels related to risk management.
• Experience developing processes to capture, investigate, and document problem areas.
• Experience in program development, data tracking, and interpreting health and safety policies.

Responsibilities

• Overseeing and implementing quality assurance programs to ensure adherence to state and local health and safety regulations and internal policies while maintaining a recovery-focused approach.
• Regularly inspecting and evaluating recovery residences for compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
• Provide actionable feedback and areas of improvement to address deficits.
• Collaborate with DBHDS, quality management, and partner offices to develop QA measures and monitor effectiveness, including reporting deaths and serious injuries.
