Job summary
Jacobs is seeking a Transmission Planning and Studies Engineer to support and lead projects for utility clients in the Northeast US. The role partners with regional and global power systems teams to perform steady-state and transient studies using PSS/E, TARA, and PSCAD, and to contribute to business development and proposals.
The candidate should have an advanced degree in Electrical/Power Systems Engineering, 4+ years of relevant experience, and familiarity with NERC, FERC, NPCC standards.
Qualifications
- Advanced degree in Electrical/Power Systems Engineering from a recognized institution.
- Minimum 4 years of direct experience with power system studies using PSS/E, TARA and/or PSCAD.
- Strong background with ISO-NE, NYISO, PJM or IESO.
- Up-to-date knowledge of NERC, FERC and NPCC reliability standards.
- Team player with strong communication and presentation skills.
- Willingness to travel within North America.
Responsibilities
- Perform steady-state and transient power system studies.
- Participate in meetings with utilities for project delivery or business development.
- Lead or support projects through the full lifecycle from bid to close-out.
- Collaborate with North American and global teams.
- Engage in ISO/RTO forums and technical committees and stay current with standards.
