Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a transmission planning and studies engineer to join our North American team. You will lead steady-state and transient power system studies, collaborating with regional and global power systems groups on projects for utilities in the Northeast US.

The role requires an advanced degree in Electrical/Power Systems Engineering, 4+ years of relevant experience in PSS/E, TARA or PSCAD, and familiarity with ISO-NE, NYISO, PJM or IESO.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in Electrical/Power Systems Engineering from a recognized institution.
• Minimum 4 years of direct experience with power system studies using PSS/E, TARA and/or PSCAD.
• Strong background with ISO-NE, NYISO, PJM or IESO.
• Up to date knowledge of NERC, FERC and NPCC reliability standards.
• Travel within North America and strong interpersonal/presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of steady-state and transient power system studies.
• Participate in meetings with utilities as part of project delivery or business development.
• Lead or support projects through the full lifecycle from bid to execution and close-out.
• Collaborate with team members across North America and globally.
• Engage in ISO/RTO stakeholder forums and stay current with standards.
