LanguageLine Solutions is hiring a Rakhine Telephone Interpreter to provide on-demand interpretation from the comfort of a home office in the United States. This remote position handles calls across multiple industries, with a focus on accuracy, cultural sensitivity, and confidentiality.

The role emphasizes fast, clear communication, adherence to interpretation protocols, and the ability to work independently as an exempt contractor.

Qualifications

• Fluency in Rakhine and English with cultural awareness.
• Ability to provide cultural competency and assess regional and accent differences.
• Excellent listening, retention and note-taking to maintain accuracy.
• Must be at least 18 years old and legally authorized to work in the United States.
• Work authorization without sponsorship is required.

Responsibilities

• Respond to interpreting sessions promptly in a friendly, professional manner.
• Render correct meanings according to interpretation protocol.
• Speak clearly in both languages with proper pronunciation and polite expressions.
• Maintain professional demeanor throughout sessions.
• Remain calm during emotional or emergency calls such as 911.
• Maintain punctuality and availability during work hours.
• Follow client instructions to meet expectations while respecting LEP confidentiality.
• Understand protocol for industries including medical, insurance, finance, and law.
• Demonstrate commitment to cultural sensitivity in a diverse environment.
• Some calls may be highly emotional; you may need to stay on a call for extended periods.
