BairesDev, a global tech leader, is seeking a Software Engineer specializing in Query Engines. You will design and optimize the core components that drive high-performance data retrieval, bridging high-level query languages and low-level execution.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in Software Engineering with a focus on database internals or query engines.
• Proven expertise in developing query engine internals, including query planners, optimizers, and execution engines.
• Proficiency in systems programming with Java or C++.
• Deep understanding of columnar storage formats such as Apache Parquet or Iceberg and vectorized execution.
• Advanced proficiency in English.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement sophisticated query planners and cost-based optimizers to generate efficient execution paths.
• Develop high-performance execution engines using vectorized processing and SIMD instructions to leverage modern CPU architectures.
• Optimize columnar storage interactions to minimize I/O and maximize data throughput for analytical queries.
• Build and refine query engine internals, including join algorithms, aggregation frameworks, and sorting mechanisms.
• Collaborate with infrastructure teams to integrate specialized query engines into broader data platform architectures.
