Job summary

CAI is seeking a Quality Assurance Engineer to elevate software quality across government and public sector IT projects. You will develop and execute test strategies, drive continuous improvement, and collaborate with stakeholders on risk-based testing.

This full-time contract role is remote with occasional onsite work in Chicago, IL, offering exposure to Selenium, Playwright, API testing, and Section 508 accessibility standards in a collaborative Agile environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of QA or software testing experience, preferably within government or public sector environments.
• Experience with both manual and automated testing methodologies.
• Experience working within SDLC frameworks including Agile/Scrum and Waterfall.
• Hands-on experience with automation tools such as Selenium, TestComplete, QTP, or similar.
• Experience with defect tracking and test management tools.
• Experience with API testing.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present to non-technical stakeholders.
• Understanding of data privacy requirements including PII and regulated data handling.

Responsibilities

• Develop, execute, and maintain test plans, cases, and scripts across functional, regression, and integration testing.
• Identify, document, and track defects using Jira or ServiceNow; collaborate with development teams.
• Drive QA for software releases, including manual and automated testing.
• Support UAT sessions with stakeholders and sign-off.
• Validate systems meet business requirements, security standards, and accessibility requirements.
• Develop and maintain test automation frameworks using Selenium, Playwright, or similar.
• Conduct API testing and validate data integrity across systems.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and sprint rituals.
• Prepare QA status reports and test summaries.
