Job summary

Catalist is seeking a skilled Software Quality Assurance Engineer to ensure the quality, reliability, and performance of our applications. You will design automated testing strategies, build testing frameworks, and collaborate with Dev, Product, and User teams to improve software quality.

The role reports to the Director of Tools Support & Integrations and involves cross-team coordination within Client Services, Data, and Tech. Hybrid/remote work options are available.

Qualifications

• 5+ years experience with test automation and quality assurance for JVM and/or web-based software
• Experience with web application testing and web-based API testing
• Experience with at least one RDBMS (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, MS SQL)
• Hands-on experience developing test automation scripts for web apps, Java apps, and REST APIs
• Python scripting and coding proficiency
• Strong experience with automation frameworks (Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, WebdriverIO) and API testing tools (Postman, REST Assured)
• Ability to write automation test code for JVM applications
• Understanding of Java and JVM architecture, including build/deploy processes
• Experience with multi-browser testing (Chrome, Safari, Firefox)
• SQL familiarity to query databases for test scenarios
• Ability to organize/test plans and track progress
• Background check required

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end testing across sprint cycles (functional, integration, regression, performance)
• Collaborate with Client Services, Data, and Technology teams to shape verifiable requirements
• Create test plans and cases from product requirements and specs
• Develop and maintain automated regression test suites
• Maintain test documentation and provide feedback on product quality for production releases
• Log, prioritize, and track bugs using project tools (e.g., Jira) with dev teams for quick resolutions
• Adjust working schedule (occasional evenings/weekends) as workload demands
• Work independently with a passion for finding bugs
