Job summary

UST is seeking a Python Full Stack Developer to join our Cloud Platform Engineering team, migrating on‑prem batch processing systems to AWS. This role goes beyond lift-and-shift—refactoring legacy PERL into modern Python services and building full stack applications for batch monitoring and operations.

You will re-architect batch workflows with AWS-native services, write tests, and collaborate on deployment pipelines, cutover sequencing, and migration validation while handling legacy code with

Qualifications

• Must have Python development experience building production-grade applications and scripts.
• Experience with batch/ETL patterns: scheduling, retries, error handling, idempotency.
• Comfortable with Python data processing libraries and full stack development (backend + frontend).
• Experience building backend services and frontend interfaces (e.g., React, Vue).
• Experience designing and consuming REST APIs.
• Able to read, understand, and refactor PERL scripts for migration.

Responsibilities

• Refactor and migrate legacy on-prem batch jobs (PERL) into Python services on AWS.
• Design, build, and maintain full stack apps to support batch job monitoring and operations.
• Re-architect batch workflows to use AWS-native services (Batch, Lambda, Step Functions).
• Analyze legacy scripts to identify dependencies and edge cases before refactoring.
• Write automated tests to ensure equivalence with legacy results.
• Collaborate with cloud engineers on deployment pipelines and cutover sequencing.
• Document refactored logic, architecture decisions, and runbooks.
