Job summary

UST in Chicago seeks a Senior AWS Cloud Engineer to lead lift-and-shift migration of on-prem workloads to AWS with minimal re-architecture. You will partner with infrastructure, application, and security teams to plan cutover and containerize legacy workloads.

The role emphasizes CloudFront, S3 architectures, secure file transfer via Transfer Family, Docker containerization, IAM, networking, and cost/performance validation in a remote-US setup.

Qualifications

• Must have hands-on CloudFront design and configuration.
• Experience with S3 bucket architecture, storage classes, and lifecycle policies.
• Experience migrating on-prem data to S3 and using AWS Transfer Family.
• Containerize legacy applications with Docker for cloud environments.
• Experience with migration runbooks, wave planning, and cutover execution.
• Knowledge of IAM, KMS, security groups, and network configuration.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute lift-and-shift migration of on-prem servers and applications to AWS.
• Design content delivery using CloudFront and storage architecture using S3.
• Stand up and manage secure file transfer workflows using AWS Transfer Family.
• Containerize legacy applications with Docker to prepare them for cloud-hosted environments.
• Assess on-prem workloads and dependencies to build migration runbooks, wave plans, and cutover strategies.
• Configure supporting AWS infrastructure – networking, compute, security groups, and IAM – for migrated workloads.
• Validate post-migration performance, cost, and security posture, and remediate issues found during cutover.
• Document migration architecture, runbooks, and operational procedures for the environment.
