Job summary

The TemPositions Group is recruiting for a New York-licensed attorney to join a large public-sector organization on a temporary basis. The role focuses on commercial and procurement work, handling high-volume contracts, complex negotiations, and compliance initiatives arising from expanded programs and reforms.

Ideal candidates have strong public-sector procurement experience, 3+ years in procurement contracts, and a track record of drafting and negotiating commercial agreements.

Qualifications

• J.D. degree and New York bar admission in good standing.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in procurement contracts, transportation contracts and/or service agreements.
• Experience in government or public-sector contracting, procurement, or commercial transactions.
• Strong drafting, negotiation, and issue-spotting skills.
• Ability to manage high-volume workflows with competing deadlines.
• Experience working collaboratively within large legal departments or government agencies preferred.
• Strong technological experience required (Admission process includes general technology test).

Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate a high volume of procurement-related agreements.
• Support Requests for Bids and other competitive procurement processes with extended timelines.
• Advise on food services, facilities, and related operational contracts.
• Support expansion of nonprofit vendor programs.
• Address vendor compliance and accountability requirements.
• Manage and negotiate a growing portfolio of program-related contracts.
• Support expansion initiatives related to early childhood education and childcare programs.
• Assist with negotiation and completion of substantial existing agreements tied to program growth.
• Support negotiation and execution of complex transportation system contracts.
• Assist with contract extensions, emergency procurements, and approvals.
• Coordinate with external legal stakeholders.
• Track and manage a large, active transportation contract portfolio.
