Job summary

The State of New York Unified Court System seeks an Assistant Deputy Counsel (Contracts and Procurement) to provide legal guidance on contracts, procurement policies, and related matters for UCS divisions. The role includes reviewing and drafting contracts, negotiating terms, and advising on intergovernmental agreements with federal, state, and local partners.

Qualifications

• Admission to the New York State Bar; and Two years of service in the Associate Counsel title or a minimum of five years of relevant legal experience; including up to 18 months of pre-admission experience.

Responsibilities

• Reviewing/drafting/negotiating contracts for goods and services, grants and program contracts, intergovernmental agreements and memoranda of understanding.
• Advising on contract-related transactional and administrative issues.
• Reviewing federal grant award conditions and assurances.
• Providing advice on contract and procurement policies/procedures and contract submissions to NYS oversight agencies.
• Other legal duties as assigned.
