Michigan Afterschool Partnership in Michigan seeks a Public Affairs Manager to shape communications for policy and advocacy. Remote role with travel for events, reporting to the Director of Public Affairs.

You will translate budget data into compelling content for policymakers and media, and manage media relationships. Responsibilities include designing materials, overseeing digital content, and coordinating messaging for legislative priorities and national outreach.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in public affairs, government relations, advocacy communications, public relations, journalism, legislative staff work, or a closely related field.
• Proficiency in graphic design and content production, with ability to independently create professional, brand-consistent materials.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, Squarespace, and digital marketing tools including social media platforms and SEO.
• Skilled in digital content development and management across multiple platforms, including websites, email campaigns, and social media, to support organizational goals.
• Excellent writing and editing skills, with the ability to develop clear, compelling, and accurate communications materials.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate complex public policy, legislative, and budget information clearly and effectively to diverse audiences.
• Ability to engage with legislators, legislative staff, or government agencies, while building and maintaining bipartisan relationships.
• Sound judgment, professionalism, and discretion when handling sensitive policy matters and representing the organization publicly.
• Commitment to equity and expanding OST access for Michigan youth.
• Willingness, availability, and ability to travel statewide and nationally, as needed.

Responsabilités

• Design and produce MASP's published materials including one-pagers and reports.
• Maintain and improve the MASP website and advocacy landing pages.
• Plan and schedule social media campaigns around budget moments.
• Write and send MASP email communications; track performance.
• Build a library of templates and brand assets for partners.
• Support policy and legislative communications and media relations.
• Staff MASP at hearings, advocacy days, and meetings.
