Actalent is seeking a senior protection and controls engineer to lead projects in substations, setting relays and designing one line diagrams. You will work with in-house and client engineers, provide training, and lead teams to ensure project milestones are met.

The role requires 5–8 years in utilities, a PE license, ABET degrees, and travel of 10–15% to field substations. This position is based in Ohio and remote-friendly per project needs.

Qualifications

• Five to eight years of experience in utilities working with protection and controls.
• Five to eight years of experience completing engineering projects from start to finish.
• Five to eight years of experience setting relays and designing one line diagrams.
• ABET accredited bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering is required.

Responsibilities

• Work on green-field and brown-field protection and control projects in substations.
• Set relays and conduct relay setting calculations using CAPE, ASPEN, AcSELerator 5010 (SEL), and GE URPC Software.
• Design settings and issue to Protection Designers via IPS.
• Review protection schematics and elementaries for accuracy.
• Lead, coordinate, and review work activities within the group and with external teams.
