Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Protection & Controls Engineer to join our Atlanta area team. You will lead substation protection projects, set relays, perform CAPE-based calculations, and coordinate with in-house and client engineers.

Applicants should have extensive experience in utilities protection and controls, a PE license preferred, ABET Electrical Engineering degrees, and readiness to travel 10-15% to field substations.

Qualifications

• Eight years+ of experience in utilities with protection and controls.
• Experience delivering engineering projects from start to finish.
• Experience setting relays and designing one-line diagrams.
• ABET-accredited Electrical Engineering degree; PE license preferred.
• Ability to travel 10–15% to field substations.

Responsibilities

• Work on green-field and brown-field protection and control projects in substations.
• Set relays and perform relay setting calculations using CAPE.
• Design settings and issue to Protection and Controls Supervisor using IPS.
• Review protection schematics and elementary diagrams.
• Review equipment using MOB Port and coordinate with substation engineers.
• Lead, coordinate, and review substation projects.
• Provide training and guidance to lower-level staff.
• Travel 10–15% to field substations.
