Job summary

Starr Companies is seeking a Property Loss Control professional for a remote role supporting our Middle Market Team. You will review underwriting submittals, assess sprinkler and fire protection plans, and coordinate with underwriters on risk quality and insurability.

Ideal candidates have a bachelor’s degree in engineering (fire protection preferred) and at least two years in property loss control or related review work. Travel is minimal, with occasional visits to offices as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering; fire protection preferred.
  • 2+ years in property loss control or as desktop reviewer in insurance/consulting/brokerage.
  • Knowledge of sprinkler systems, fire alarms, process hazards, and loss control issues.
  • Proficient with Word and Excel.
  • Able to work independently and with underwriters.

Responsibilities

  • Desktop reviews of underwriting submittals, engineering reports, and COPE information.
  • Set up and conduct phone surveys for prospective accounts.
  • Complete building and sprinkler protection plan reviews.
  • Provide guidance to underwriting staff regarding risk quality/insurability.
  • Quoting inspections and jurisdictional services as needed.
  • Completing local property loss control site surveys as necessary
