Job summary

Starr Loss Control Consultant – Technical Property Accounts seeks an experienced engineer to perform on-site risk assessments for high hazard industries, including oil, petrochemical, chemical, and power-generation facilities.

You will evaluate sprinkler and fire alarm plans, review PSM elements, prepare survey reports, and support underwriters. Travel up to 40% regionally; a company car is provided; remote work allowed within reasonable distance to the Dallas office.

Qualifications

• College graduate with BS in an engineering discipline; chemical, mechanical, or fire protection preferred.
• Minimum 10 years' engineering experience in Oil/Petrochemical, Midstream, or Chemical sectors, or 10 years' Loss Control inspections.
• Knowledge of 29 CFR 1910.119 Process Safety Management and related standards.

Responsibilities

• Conduct on-site loss control inspections for high-hazard industries.
• Evaluate sprinkler systems, building additions, and fire alarm plans; advise clients.
• Prepare engineering account reviews and survey reports for underwriters.
• Provide guidance to underwriting staff on risk quality and insurability.
• Maintain inspection records and manage travel 25–40% overnight.
