Job summary

Starr is seeking a Loss Control professional to review underwriting submittals and engineering reports for its Middle Market Team. The role involves evaluating sprinkler and fire protection concepts, performing surveys, and guiding underwriters on risk quality.

Remote work with travel is expected to be under 10%. Ideal candidates have a BS in engineering (fire protection preferred), strong communication skills, and 2+ years in property loss control or related analysis.

Qualifications

• Understanding sprinkler and fire protection systems is preferred.
• Familiar with NFPA, FM, API, ASME standards and industry practices.
• Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks with underwriting guidance.
• Strong written and verbal communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Review underwriting submittals, engineering reports, and COPE information.
• Set up and conduct phone surveys for prospective accounts.
• Complete building and sprinkler protection plan reviews.
• Provide guidance to underwriting staff on risk quality and insurability.
• Quote inspections and jurisdictional services as needed.
• Conduct local property loss control site surveys as necessary.
