Job summary

Mercury Insurance is seeking a Property Claims Field Adjuster 1 who will, after training, transition to handling homeowners' property claims with a field travel component. You may also handle some virtual claims and collaborate with vendors to ensure timely resolutions.

The role emphasizes strong communication, customer service, and the ability to inspect properties on-site, with potential overtime and occasional overnight travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Valid driver’s license is required.
• Ability to obtain state specific property claims licensing, as required.
• Must successfully participate and complete formal property claims training program that may take place in person, virtually, or a combination of both.

Responsibilities

• Investigate and resolve Homeowners claims of minor to moderate complexity in a timely and efficient manner.
• Perform field inspections at least 50% of work time; travel to customer homes for on-site inspections and write detailed damage estimates.
• Handle virtual claims using imagery and video technology to collaborate with on-site vendors and insureds.
• Compare facts against policy to determine coverage; extend or deny coverage as appropriate.
• Establish reserves within authority limits and negotiate settlements; escalate to supervisor for higher approvals.
• Communicate with insureds to resolve issues and ensure satisfaction, with timely responses to multiple channels.
• Manage workload and monitoring progress and expenses; coordinate with independent adjusters when needed.
• Be flexible with shifts and occasional overtime; travel to multiple locations including evenings if required.
