Job summary

American Family Insurance is seeking a Property Claims professional to investigate and settle homeowner property claims, conduct field inspections, and manage desk and field workflows. The role supports a largely remote work arrangement with 80% field time in the Lorain/Vermilion and SW Cleveland area, reporting to the Property Claim Manager.

Relocation assistance is available for eligible candidates, and a company fleet vehicle is provided with optional personal use.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience providing customer-driven solutions, support, or service.
• Demonstrated experience handling 1st and 3rd party, multi-line claims across operating territories.
• Demonstrated experience handling moderately complex claims.
• Solid knowledge of policies and endorsements related to casualty coverages.
• Solid knowledge of each phase of the claim handling process.

Responsibilities

• Investigates origin and cause of claims by contacting insureds, claimants, agents, attorneys, contractors, experts, and others.
• Identifies complex issues and seeks assistance as needed; handles claims in good faith.
• Handles both 1st and 3rd party claims under multiple policy types and endorsements.
• Conducts on-site inspections when needed and negotiates with insureds and attorneys.
• Responds to inquiries, makes decisions, and closes files as appropriate.
• Interprets policies and applies coverages to assigned losses.
• Provides updates on claim progress to all parties.
• May participate in additional assignments or projects based on skills and experience.
