Job summary

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is seeking a Program Assistant to support the National Virtual Program for Professional Advancement (NVPPA). This fully virtual role will coordinate requests for direct financial assistance, ensure documentation, and align spending with approved plans, reporting to the Deputy Director.

Ideal candidates have 1-2 years in human services, strong communications, and comfort working remotely across states.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years of demonstrated experience in a human services field, preferably nonprofit.
• Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to deliver services remotely across states and time zones.
• Experience managing a high-volume of requests with strong organization.
• Ability to build and maintain productive internal and external relationships.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, video conferencing, and remote collaboration tools.
• Commitment to anti-racism and equitable service to clients.
• Fluency in spoken and written English.

Responsibilities

• Receive direct financial assistance requests and prepare them for review.
• Initiate PR/PO or non-PO invoices for expense processing.
• Coordinate with Finance to ensure correct codes and IDs.
• Follow IRC financial controls in all transactions.
• Create new vendor records and ensure updated vendor information.
• Maintain audit-ready records for each participant.
• Coordinate with Career Navigators to collect signed receipts.
• Record transactions in IRC system and ETO as assigned.
• Flag anomalies or incomplete requests to Finance Manager.
