Job summary

The American Heart Association has an excellent opportunity for a Program Consultant, Health Care Quality. This full-time, benefits-eligible, grant-funded role can be home-based, with travel up to 15% as needed.

You will implement quality programs to improve care for cardiovascular patients, educate sites, manage budgets and timelines, and collaborate across national offices to ensure success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• Three (3) years of relevant experience.
• Experience in healthcare or a public health-related organization: clinical, quality improvement, program development, and systems improvement.
• Proficiency in project management, including budgets, timelines, and communication.
• Skilled in working with clinical audiences to impact change management.
• Strong verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to work in a team environment and interact with all levels of staff and volunteers.
• Microsoft Office skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
• Ability to travel up to 15% local and overnight.

Responsibilities

• Drive implementation of quality improvement projects that help healthcare providers treat to American Heart Association guidelines.
• Provide consultation, direction, and support through learning cohorts to identify strategies for improving outcomes.
• Create process maps to understand current care delivery and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Build relationships with internal and external stakeholders and volunteers.
• Facilitate learning cohort meetings with volunteers and staff partners.
• Develop program implementation strategies aligned with initiative objectives.
• Serve as point person for resources needed by hospitals and clinics (online education, articles, etc.).
• Establish a sustainability plan for all components of the project.
• Develop clinical decision support tools and collaborate with clinicians to improve care.
• Work with inpatient and outpatient teams to address barriers to guideline adoption.
• Communicate with management to ensure tasks meet timelines.
• Manage project documents, budgets, timelines, and reports.
