Job summary

Banner Health is seeking a motivated Certified Medical Coder | Profee Coder with 3+ years of Neurology and/or Neurosurgery complex coding experience to join our remote team. The role requires current CPC/CCS/CCS-P or RHIA/RHIT certification through AHIMA or AAPC and offers a fully remote environment with flexible scheduling after training.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and related training or an Associate’s degree.
• Active CPC/CCS/CCS-P/RHIA/RHIT certification with AHIMA or AAPC.
• Three or more years of complex professional coding experience in neurology or neurosurgery.
• Ability to work effectively in a remote setting using standard office software and coding systems.
• Must be able to work remotely with reliability and independence.

Responsibilities

• Analyzes medical information and codes diagnostic/procedural data per national guidelines.
• Abstracts clinical data from records into EMR and ensures complete, accurate entries.
• Ensures compliance with CMS, OIG, HCFA and state requirements.
• Generates reports and supports data for departmental analytics.
• Identifies and resolves coding validation edits and discrepancies.
• Maintains high attention to detail to ensure correct coding and reimbursement.
• Works independently with periodic supervision and seeks guidance when needed.
