Job summary

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) is seeking a talented Full Stack Developer (Production) for a 100% remote role. The position supports Veterans Affairs (VA) with large-scale production systems and cloud infrastructure, requiring 8+ years of systems engineering experience.

Candidates must have AWS/Azure experience, strong Linux/Windows admin skills, scripting ability, and a solid background in CI/CD, IaC, and security/compliance. US citizenship and Public Trust clearance are required.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in systems engineering or related field, especially production environments
• Experience with AWS and/or Azure Cloud services and CloudWatch
• Proven ability to manage and maintain large-scale production systems
• Strong Linux/Unix and Windows administration skills
• Scripting with Python, Bash, or PowerShell for automation
• Experience with configuration management/automation tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef, SaltStack)
• Knowledge of IaC tools such as CloudFormation
• Experience with monitoring tools (DynaTrace, Science Logic, CloudWatch)
• Knowledge of networking, firewalls, VPNs
• Experience with database systems like AWS RDS SQL Server and Oracle RDBMS/RDS
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and Git-based workflows (Git, GitHub Actions, AWS CodeBuild/CodeDeploy)
• Excellent communication and ability to work in cross-functional teams
• Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a high-pressure environment

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day operational support of complex application cloud systems
• Develop solutions to routine technical problems of limited scope
• Follow standard practices to analyze data and situations
• Detect, isolate, document, and resolve system outages and recovery activities
• Document problems in logging and discrepancy reporting tools
• Collaborate with customers in day-to-day activities
• Respond to user calls regarding hardware and software issues
• Communicate status of key problems to users and management
• Maintain computing infrastructure and perform installations
• Implement continuous improvement through IT systems and procedures
• Maintain inventory of system assets
• Ensure VA security standards and policies
• Provide documentation, training, and other duties as assigned
