Job summary

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) is seeking an experienced Full Stack Developer (Production) for a 100% U.S.-based remote role supporting Veterans Affairs (VA). The candidate will operate within a secure environment, managing large-scale production systems on AWS/Azure and ensuring reliability, performance, and compliance with VA standards.

The ideal candidate has 8+ years in systems engineering, strong Linux/Windows administration, and extensive scripting and automation experience, including CI/CD,

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in systems engineering or related field, with production environments.
• Experience with AWS and/or Azure Cloud platforms, including S3, Step Functions, Batch, CloudWatch.
• Linux/Unix and Windows administration proficiency; scripting for automation (Python, Bash, PowerShell).
• Experience with automation tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef, SaltStack).
• Knowledge of IaC tools and cloud-native technologies; CI/CD pipelines.
• Familiarity with Git and CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, AWS CodeBuild/CodeDeploy).
• Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-level operational support for complex application cloud systems.
• Develop solutions to routine technical problems of limited scope.
• Document problems and communicate status to users and management.
• Maintain inventory and perform onboarding/maintenance of computing infrastructure.
• Ensure compliance with VA standards and security policies; participate in audits.
