Solace Health invites a seasoned Product Counsel to partner with Product and Engineering, guiding legal risk from design through launch, with privacy-by-design at the core.

This remote role requires occasional travel to Redwood City, CA. US-based applicants with 3–6 years of privacy and technology counseling, HIPAA/HITECH experience, and strong cross-functional collaboration will thrive. Fluency across AI/ML, data protection and consumer-protection law is valued.

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school and active bar membership in good standing.
• 3-6 years’ experience counseling product and engineering teams on privacy and technology matters.
• Strong healthcare privacy and data-protection foundation—HIPAA/HITECH plus U.S. state privacy laws—ideally in a healthcare, digital-health, or other regulated environment.
• Fluency across the product-counsel toolkit: AI/ML, intellectual property, consumer protection, and advertising/marketing law.
• Nice to have: privacy certification (e.g., CIPP/US); experience with health-data marketing/ad-tech; and familiarity with telehealth or marketplace models.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary legal partner to Product and Engineering teams across the full product lifecycle.
• Advise on privacy-by-design, PHI data flows, HIPAA/HITECH, and state privacy laws.
• Lead privacy assessments for new features and translate results to product requirements.
• Partner with Marketing on advertising claims, consumer-protection and FTC considerations.
• Draft and maintain terms of service, privacy notices, and disclosures.
• Advise on data-sharing and vendor data agreements (BAAs/DPAs).
• Develop templates and self-service guidance for a fast-scaling product org.
• Collaborate with Security, Compliance, Operations, and Finance; escalate to CLO as needed.
