Job summary

Duke Energy Corporation seeks an entry‑level Accounts Payable Analyst to support vendor master maintenance, 1099 reporting, and payment processing across multiple ERP systems. You will work within the AP/P2P organization to ensure data integrity and drive continuous improvement in procure‑to‑pay processes.

The role requires understanding of SAP Ariba, Maximo, PeopleSoft, and CAPS, plus strong communication and analytical skills to interact with peers and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Accounting, Supply Chain Management or Other Related Degree.
• 1 year related work experience.
• In lieu of Bachelor's degree(s) AND 1 year(s) related work experience listed above, High School/GED AND 5 year(s) related work experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide financial, accounting, and business management analytical support to a defined customer group and departmental peers.
• Serve as a resource for technical and functional support.
• Provide guidance and assistance related to supply chain management inquiries and issues.
• Perform complex transactional tasks to support daily operations.
• Validate and approve vendor master file updates, ensuring accurate payment classification for 1099 reporting purposes and maintaining controls that protect banking information from fraud and unauthorized changes.
• Ensure data integrity and process controls across all business units.
• Resolve supplier and internal customer issues, research requests, and escalations.
• Research and correct invoice exceptions related to accounting, finance, and inventory discrepancies, while assisting with root cause analysis to permanently resolve issues.
• Validate and maintain outgoing payments, ensuring payment errors are corrected and funds are recovered when necessary. Responsibilities include interaction with Treasury, suppliers, and banking partners.
• Validate and maintain credit card payment and expense management system information and compliance.
• Perform data analysis, root cause investigations, and communication of resolutions.
• Clearly communicate root cause assessments and issue resolutions to internal and external stakeholders.
• Support research and data analysis requests related to invoices, expenses, and payments.
• Support internal and external audit requests.
• Support rate case documentation requests.
• Identify root causes and recommend solutions based on research findings and analysis.
• Drive continuous improvement.
• Evaluate SAP Ariba exception management and procurement processes to identify continuous improvement opportunities.
• Recommend and implement process enhancements designed to streamline procurement operations, reduce invoice cycle times, and improve the overall supplier and customer experience.
