Job summary

AMG & Associates, Inc. is seeking an experienced Archivist to organize and describe archival collections, manuscripts, photographs, and institutional records in a dynamic, remote-friendly environment.

You will process materials from accessioning to final storage, develop finding aids, maintain inventories and metadata, and ensure preservation and access in line with institutional policies. Collaboration with researchers and staff is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field.
• 3+ years of professional archival processing or related experience.
• Strong understanding of archival arrangement, description, accessioning, preservation, and collection management.

Responsibilities

• Assess and describe archival materials including manuscripts, photographs, and institutional records.
• Process materials from accessioning to final storage and description.
• Develop and maintain finding aids, inventories, catalog records, and metadata.
• Apply archival standards to ensure consistent organization and documentation.
• Evaluate preservation needs and storage conditions.
• Maintain records of collection contents and access restrictions.
• Support digitization by preparing materials and verifying metadata.
• Maintain archival databases and management systems.
• Identify sensitive or restricted materials and escalate as needed.
• Collaborate with archivists, researchers, and staff to support access and research needs.
• Assist with accessioning of new collections and transfers.
• Ensure compliance with policies and preservation guidelines.
