Job summary

AMG & Associates, Inc. is seeking an experienced Processing Archivist on a full-time contract basis. You will organize, describe, preserve, and provide access to archival collections, working with archivists, librarians, researchers, and records managers.

You will develop finding aids, inventories, and metadata, apply standards, and manage preservation actions. Remote or hybrid options may be available to support collection access and project needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field and relevant experience.
• Experience with archival processing, arrangement, description, and preservation.
• Knowledge of archival standards and cataloging practices.

Responsibilities

• Assess, organize, arrange, and describe archival collections and records.
• Process materials from accessioning to final storage with proper metadata.
• Develop finding aids, inventories, and descriptive metadata.
• Apply archival standards to ensure consistent documentation.
• Evaluate preservation needs and storage conditions.
• Maintain records of contents, access restrictions, and actions.
• Support digitization by prepping materials and verifying metadata.
• Maintain databases and collection management systems.
• Identify restricted materials and elevate concerns.
• Coordinate with stakeholders to support access and research needs.
