Job summary

Shields Health Solutions is seeking a Prior Authorization Pharmacy Technician - Patient Support Advocate to support the growth of our specialty pharmacy program. You will coordinate prior authorizations, assist with financial access, and resolve insurance barriers to patient access to medications.

Remote role, Arizona license and PTCB certification required. You will work with pharmacists, liaisons, and care teams to document interactions and improve workflows while promoting medication

Qualifications

• Arizona pharmacy technician license is required (State-registered).
• CPhT certification is required.
• 2+ years of experience as a pharmacy technician.

Responsibilities

• Obtain medication approvals with insurance companies.
• Enter data in pharmacy systems and manage follow-up actions.
• Document patient needs and authorization status across systems.
• Communicate with prescribers to ensure accurate prescriptions.
• Maintain detailed records of patient interactions.
• Assist patients with insurance claims and adherence by phone.
• Support coordinated patient care with pharmacists and liaisons.
• Identify issues and contribute to process improvements.
• Maintain confidentiality and pursue ongoing professional development.
