Job summary

Kimmel Associates' client, a well-established environmental engineering and civil infrastructure firm, seeks a Principal – Water/Wastewater Engineer to establish and expand a California practice. The role blends technical leadership with client development and revenue growth.

You will define growth strategy, recruit and mentor staff, oversee projects from planning through construction, and build relationships with municipalities, utilities, and industrial clients across the state.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of progressively responsible engineering consulting experience in water, wastewater, stormwater, or utility infrastructure.
• Minimum 5 years of experience leading or managing a practice or regional operation.
• Active California PE license is required.
• Proven success in client development, strategic growth, and revenue generation.

Responsibilities

• Lead growth of the Water/Wastewater practice across California with strategic plans and staffing.
• Develop and maintain relationships with municipal, utility, industrial, and private-sector clients.
• Generate annual net revenue exceeding $750,000 through client development and project pursuits.
• Lead strategic pursuits, proposals, client presentations, and contract negotiations.
• Provide executive oversight and technical leadership for water, wastewater, recycled water, and stormwater projects.
