Kimmel Associates is seeking a Principal – Water/Wastewater Engineer for a California-wide practice, offering remote work with periodic travel. This high-impact role combines technical leadership, client development, and strategic growth to establish a new water/wastewater discipline across the state.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of progressively responsible engineering consulting experience with water/wastewater/stormwater/utility infrastructure.
• 5+ years of experience leading or managing a practice, business line, or regional operation.
• Active California Professional Engineer (PE) registration required.
• Proven success in client development, strategic growth, and revenue generation.

Responsibilities

• Lead the strategic development and growth of the Water/Wastewater practice across California, including annual growth plans and staffing.
• Develop and maintain relationships with municipal, utility, industrial, and private-sector clients.
• Generate annual net revenue exceeding $750,000 through client development and business development.
• Lead strategic pursuits, proposals, client presentations, interviews, and contract negotiations.
• Provide executive leadership for water, wastewater, recycled water, and stormwater projects from planning to construction.
• Oversee quality assurance for calculations, reports, plans, and cost estimates.
• Recruit, mentor, and develop engineering professionals to support the practice growth.
