Job summary

RTX in Cedar Rapids, IA is seeking a Principal Software Engineer for Display Products. This remote role involves leading software teams on avionics display software across bare metal and RTOS environments, contributing to safety-critical systems.

You will drive project direction, certification activities, and process adherence while coaching engineers for growth and leadership opportunities.

Qualifications

Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and 8+ years of experience.
Ability to lead software development teams and collaborate effectively.
Experience managing technical projects including schedule, earned value management, and risk management.
Ability to drive changes and best practices among peers.
Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
Excellent problem solving and decision-making abilities.

Responsibilities

Lead Projects: serve as the software project engineer, providing management and technical direction across all program phases.
Communicate progress, risks, opportunities, financial data, and project information clearly.
Ensure consistency with Collins Aerospace engineering processes and certifications.
Help define development plans and ensure DO-178 and other certification requirements are met.
Drive best practices to software teams and project execution.
Provide guidance and mentoring to engineers to grow into lead roles.
