Job summary

One Call is seeking a Senior/Principal Software Engineer to provide architectural depth and hands-on leadership in a legacy-heavy environment modernizing with .NET, REST APIs, and Azure. You will guide engineers, optimize delivery, and ensure high‑quality software across mission‑critical applications.

You’ll work in a remote-first setting, collaborating with cross‑functional teams. The role emphasizes architecture, coding, and mentoring while advancing CI/CD and observability practices.

Qualifications

• 10+ years building enterprise .NET applications in C# (.NET Framework + .NET Core).
• Experience modernizing large legacy .NET codebases (service extraction, modularization).
• Familiarity with Azure cloud services, logging, monitoring, and observability patterns.
• Experience in healthcare, workers' compensation, claims processing, or regulated industries.
• Experience with distributed queues, messaging patterns, event-driven architecture.

Responsibilities

• Own architecture and design discussions across multiple apps/services.
• Provide hands-on guidance to teams across .NET, SQL, and front-end stacks.
• Evaluate legacy architectures and propose modernization patterns.
• Facilitate technical decisions with clear rationales and tradeoffs.
• Champion engineering excellence: testing, CI/CD, observability, maintainability.
• Unblock teams and diagnose issues across the stack.
• Collaborate with Product, QA, Design and other teams to ensure delivery.
• Translate requirements into executable technical plans and sequencing.
• Identify risks and offer options balancing velocity and stability.
• Contribute high-quality code in .NET; build web apps, APIs, and data layers.
• Work with JavaScript/TypeScript, jQuery, Knockout, Bootstrap.
