Job summary

Yelp is seeking a Principal Product Manager for the Ads Auction and Measurement function. You will own the core ad auction, bidding algorithms, pricing mechanisms, and budget pacing, guiding algorithm evolution and metrics.

Partner with engineering and applied science to design, experiment, implement, and iterate on auction dynamics and measurement frameworks. This highly technical leadership role focuses on maximizing advertiser value and user experience, with a fully remote arrangement

Qualifications

• 5+ years of technical product management in auctions, bidding systems, or monetization platforms.
• Strong understanding of auction theory (VCG, GSP) and optimization algorithms.
• Proficiency with SQL and data analysis tools (Python, R).
• Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Statistics, Economics, OR Operations Research preferred.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive the product roadmap for Yelp's ads auction, bidding algorithms, pricing mechanisms, and budget pacing systems.
• Collaborate with Engineering and Data Science to design, develop, and refine the auction-based ad selection system.
• Define and own the metrics framework for auction health, efficiency, and business impact; design large-scale A/B tests.
• Conduct hands-on analysis of auction datasets using SQL and Python to uncover optimization opportunities.
• Lead end-to-end product lifecycle for auction-related features from ideation to launch and iteration.
• Communicate complex technical trade-offs to diverse stakeholders across functions.
• Directly influence Yelp's revenue by improving the core ad marketplace efficiency and effectiveness.
