Ziply Fiber seeks a Principal Architect for Infrastructure to lead the migration from VMware to OpenStack, define containerization, and design carrier-grade, geo-diverse compute environments. You’ll own architecture standards, drive automation, and collaborate with engineering teams to deliver scalable infra at scale.

The role is hands-on and independent, setting standards, and ensuring reliability across on-prem and cloud platforms while enabling operational independence and growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Telecommunications, or a related field.
• 10+ years of infrastructure engineering experience in virtualization, private cloud, and data center ops.

Responsibilities

• Own the hypervisor and private cloud strategy including OpenStack migration.
• Define Proxmox deployment architecture for lightweight virtualization.
• Architect bare metal provisioning and lifecycle management.
• Lead the VMware → OpenStack migration with zero-impact cutover.
• Define and own Kubernetes platform architecture across on-prem and cloud.
• Establish Docker image lifecycle governance and registry management.
• Design CI/CD pipelines for infra delivery using GitOps tooling.
• Own database architecture including PostgreSQL HA and backup.
• Define storage architectures across block/object/file storage with DR targets.
• Establish infra-as-code standards using Terraform/Ansible.
• Plan redundancy and geographic diversity with RTO/RPO targets.
• Design active-active/active-passive architectures for carrier-grade availability.
• Define and test disaster recovery playbooks.
