Job summary

Escape Velocity Entertainment is seeking a Principal Combat Designer to own and enhance combat systems for our online multiplayer titles. You will craft weapon and ability gameplay, collaborating with design, art, and engineering to ensure cohesive experiences.

Ideal candidates bring two shipped AAA titles, deep knowledge of Unreal Engine (UE5 preferred), and a strong player-first design philosophy with excellent communication skills.

Qualifications

• At least two shipped AAA titles where you led mechanics design.
• Expert knowledge of design tools and Unreal Engine.
• Deep understanding of major mechanics and gameplay features.
• Strong creative and technical problem-solving skills.
• Exceptional communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Design Director and Design Leads to drive combat design vision for online multiplayer.
• Design and craft expert-level player combat mechanics, weapons and abilities.
• Coordinate with art and engineering to align mechanics before development.
• Advocate for the player experience in all design decisions.
