Innovative Care Management, Inc. is seeking a Precertification Specialist I (Customer Service Specialist) to act as the primary contact for precertification inquiries from physician offices, hospitals, and patients, documenting information and guiding callers through the process.

This fully remote role requires residency in Oregon, a Monday–Friday schedule with Pacific Time hours, and excellence in clear, professional communication while protecting patient privacy.

Qualifications

• One year of call center or telephone-based customer service experience.
• Ability to communicate clearly and empathetically during challenging conversations.
• Comfort handling a steady volume of calls while navigating multiple computer systems.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established processes.
• Good judgment to escalate when needed.
• Dependability and ability to work independently from a remote setting.
• Willingness to learn new technology and workflows.
• Ability to protect patient privacy and handle confidential information.

Responsibilities

• Answer a high volume of inbound calls with professionalism and empathy.
• Remain available in phone queues during scheduled hours.
• Clarify purpose of calls and provide accurate information.
• Verify precertification requirements and identify requests needing escalation.
• Route calls, messages, and precertification-related needs to the appropriate team.
• Refer benefits inquiries to the claims administrator or benefits department.
• Transfer or elevate complex questions as needed.
• Document call details and follow-up actions in approved systems.
