Job summary

The New York Independent System Operator (NYISO) seeks a Planning Engineer to coordinate and execute interconnection studies for new generation, transmission, and load facilities. You will prepare base cases, model data, and provide technical coordination with customers, transmission owners and consultants in a hybrid onsite/remote role from Rensselaer, NY.

Responsibilities include reviewing concepts, performing analyses (steady state, short circuit, stability), and developing upgrade cost

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering required.
• 3+ years of experience in power system planning or design, especially transmission facilities.
• Experience with power flow, short circuit and transient stability analyses.
• Knowledge of tools: Power Flow (PSS/E, PowerGEM TARA), PowerGEM TARA, ASPEN for short circuit.

Responsibilities

• Review proposed facilities and interconnection concepts and modeling data.
• Prepare base cases for interconnection studies.
• Coordinate interconnection studies with customers, transmission owners and consultants.
• Perform or review steady state, short circuit and stability analyses for interconnection studies.
• Identify required system upgrades and develop cost estimates for those upgrades.
• Prepare and review interconnection study reports and documentation.
• Lead or participate in study meetings and present at stakeholder meetings.
