Job summary

Longroad Energy is seeking a Power Systems Engineer to join our remote team. The role focuses on identifying sites, preparing interconnection materials, and studying impacts to the grid while coordinating with EPC, NERC compliance, and asset management through development to operations.

The position supports wind, solar, and battery storage projects with flexible work arrangements; travel up to 10% may be required and a strong background in power systems is essential.

Qualifications

• BSEE in power systems from an accredited university.
• 4 years of experience in electrical power systems engineering, transmission planning and/or transmission system operations.
• Experience performing static and dynamic transmission system studies.
• Familiarity with NERC standards and FERC policies.

Responsibilities

• Provide power systems technical support for wind, solar and battery storage projects in Longroad’s development pipeline.
• Determine injection and/or charging capacity for proposed projects in coordination with the development team’s prospecting efforts.
• Conduct transmission system analyses to identify optimal interconnection points and hosting capacity for new renewable energy projects across the U.S. grid.
• Prepare interconnection application packages and support the interconnection process including reviewing study results and coordinating with EPC during construction.
• Track developments in transmission planning processes and advise the team of risks and opportunities.
