Job summary

Longroad Energy in Boston, MA, seeks a Power Systems Engineer to support wind, solar and storage projects from development through commercial operations. You will analyze interconnection points, prepare interconnection packages, and coordinate with EPC, Asset Management, and NERC compliance to ensure accurate dynamic models across project phases.

The role requires strong transmission planning experience, familiarity with industry tools, and travel up to 10%.

Qualifications

• BSEE in electrical power systems from an accredited university.
• 4 years of experience in electrical power systems engineering, transmission planning and/or operations.
• Experience performing static and dynamic transmission system studies to support substation and transmission line planning/operation.
• Experience with power system analysis applications such as PSS/E, PSLF, and/or TARA.
• Knowledge of power plant design including transformers, collector systems, plant controllers, and inverter-based equipment.
• Familiarity with NERC reliability standards and FERC open access policies.
• Willingness to travel up to 10%.

Responsibilities

• Provide power systems technical support for wind, solar and battery storage projects.
• Determine injection/charging capacity with development team.
• Conduct transmission system analyses to identify interconnection points and hosting capacity.
• Prepare interconnection packages and support interconnection process including LGIA, PPA, and financing.
• Track transmission planning developments and advise on risks and opportunities.
• Maintain dynamic models through development, construction, and handover to Asset Management.
