Caterpillar Inc. is seeking an Electrical Controls engineer to support the design, development, and commissioning of generator switchgear systems, delivering automation solutions for retrofit and new projects.

The role requires PLC, HMI and DCS experience, ability to read schematics, and collaboration with CAD teams; remote work from the U.S. with 35–50% travel; a BSEE or equivalent is preferred, with overtime eligibility.

Competenze

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering preferred or equivalent experience.
• Experience with automation and controls, including PLC-based systems, HMIs, and distributed control systems.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and blueprints.
• Willingness to travel 35–50% and work remotely from the U.S.
• Salaried exempt position with overtime eligibility.

Mansioni

• Identify retrofit opportunities, define project scope, and support proposal development with Dealer and Factory teams.
• Execute design, programming, testing, and commissioning of low- and medium-voltage generator paralleling control systems.
• Convert legacy PLC programs to current platforms and validate performance.
• Develop and modify PLC and HMI applications using template approaches.
• Partner with CAD designers to produce wiring and assembly drawings.
• Perform risk assessment and support field performance of assigned projects.
• Submit documentation, reports, and expenses promptly.
• Train and support technicians, customers, and internal teams on maintenance and operation.
