Job summary

GovCIO is seeking a PowerBI Technical Administrator to ensure smooth operations of core DW/BI software and data management environments. This fully remote US-based role involves installing, configuring, and optimizing BI and ETL software for data warehousing and business intelligence solutions.

The candidate will design dashboards, optimize data models, and manage data sources, refresh schedules, and security.

Qualifications

• Design, develop, and maintain interactive Power BI dashboards and reports, translating business requirements into clear visualizations for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Build and optimize data models using Power Query (M) and DAX, including calculated columns, measures, and relationships.
• Connect Power BI to various data sources (SQL Server, Oracle, Excel, cloud services, APIs) and manage data refresh schedules and permissions.
• Analyze and troubleshoot performance issues in reports and data models with best-practice data modeling and query optimization.
• Collaborate with business analysts, database engineers, and leadership to gather reporting requirements and support data-driven decisions.

Responsibilities

• Generates Ad-Hoc PBI Reports.
• Conducts PBI Training (Instructor-led Class Development, Delivery).
• Installs and configures DW/BI software to meet customer needs in accordance with enterprise architecture.
• Continuously tunes environment to optimize performance of DW/BI software.
• Designs, implements, and updates user management solutions to provide appropriate access levels.
• Evaluates vendor software updates to plan and implement patches.
• Makes recommendations for changes to software/hardware configurations to improve performance.
• Ensures smooth operations of DW/BI software through monitoring and patching.
• Supports user administration for role-based security and high-security standards.
• Performs upgrades to incorporate new features and security improvements.
