Job summary

BairesDev, a leading global technology company, is seeking a Database Performance Engineer specializing in PostgreSQL. You will optimize data systems to achieve sub-second query times and high availability in demanding, high-traffic environments.

You will tune autovacuum, memory settings, indexing, and partitioning, design scalable configurations, and collaborate with engineering teams to implement SQL best practices and robust data architectures across projects.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in Database/Performance Engineering or related roles.
• Proven PostgreSQL performance tuning and query plan analysis expertise.
• Experience with EXPLAIN ANALYZE and pg_stat views to diagnose bottlenecks.
• Hands-on experience with connection pooling and extension-level optimization for PostgreSQL.
• Strong understanding of indexing, vacuum maintenance, and memory configuration.
• Excellent written and spoken English.

Responsibilities

• Conduct deep-dive query plan analysis to identify performance hotspots.
• Fine-tune autovacuum, vacuum, and maintenance tasks to prevent bloat.
• Optimize PostgreSQL configurations (shared_buffers, work_mem) to meet workloads.
• Design advanced indexing and partitioning to speed data retrieval.
• Implement connection pooling and session management strategies.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to establish SQL best practices.
