Job summary

Render is seeking an Engineering Manager for Postgres to lead a team building and maintaining the Render Postgres product. You’ll partner with product managers and designers to translate user needs into a scalable system used by hundreds of thousands of developers daily.

The role blends technical leadership with product thinking, guiding direction, mentoring engineers, and shipping meaningful improvements quickly while upholding high platform standards.

Qualifications

• 8+ years as an engineer shipping products with downstream business impact.
• 2+ years of experience managing people and developing engineers, including hiring and performance management.
• Strong technical background with system design, architecture, and tradeoffs.
• Product-oriented mindset translating goals into engineering roadmaps and features.
• Ability to balance urgency with thoughtful execution while maintaining quality.
• Excellent communication across engineering, product, and design.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow a team of Postgres engineers through mentorship and guidance.
• Drive execution on product initiatives from ideation to launch with reliability and quality.
• Partner with Product, Design, and Infra to translate customer needs into technical roadmaps.
• Guide system design decisions and tradeoffs to support rapid evolution of the platform.
• Foster ownership and accountability across engineering practices and processes.
• Break down complex problems into incremental milestones delivering value quickly.
• Ensure teams understand developer experience and customer impact of features.
• Collaborate with product, customers, and internal teams to prioritize impactful features.
