Job summary

Prove is seeking a Senior Manager of Platform Engineering to lead two teams in Ireland: Platform Developer Enablement and SRE. You will shape the cloud infrastructure strategy, drive modernization, and ensure scalable, reliable, developer-friendly systems across the organization.

Reporting to the VP, you will define the platform roadmap, promote DevOps and IaC best practices, and build a high-performing team. Strong Kubernetes, Terraform, and OpenTelemetry expertise are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent.
• 5+ years of senior-level experience as a Software Engineer, SRE, and/or Platform Engineer.
• 5+ years of management experience, with proven success leading and coaching other managers.
• Deep experience running SaaS products in cloud environments (AWS preferred).
• Strong technical background with Kubernetes, Terraform, and modern CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitOps, ArgoCD).
• Programming skills (Go, Java, or similar) to provide technical guidance and conduct code reviews.
• Expertise in distributed systems design and architecture patterns.
• Advanced knowledge of observability practices, specifically OpenTelemetry.
• Familiarity with database technologies (MySQL, PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, MongoDB) and data streaming/processing (Kafka, Redis).
• Excellent communication skills, capable of bridging the gap between technical execution and business strategy.

Responsibilities

• Lead two teams (Platform Developer Enablement & SRE), fostering innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Set clear goals, hire and develop top talent, and mentor engineering managers to build a high-performing organization.
• Define the platform roadmap, aligning technical investments with business objectives and the broader technology strategy.
• Champion DevOps principles, automation, and infrastructure-as-code best practices across the organization.
• Oversee the design and operation of the platform to meet the needs of product teams and internal stakeholders.
• Drive architectural evolution to ensure the platform remains scalable, resilient, and secure.
• Establish and maintain rigorous SLOs, ensuring system performance aligns with business requirements.
• Implement advanced observability, monitoring, and logging frameworks to proactively address potential issues.
• Partner with product management, security, and other engineering leaders to translate business needs into scalable platform capabilities.
• Act as a key stakeholder in cross-functional planning, communicating technical risks and architectural trade-offs to both technical and non-technical leadership.
• Ensure the platform team acts as an enabler for product teams, promoting design patterns that balance velocity, reliability and security from the start.
