Job summary

Supabase is seeking a Platform Engineer to join the Compute Capacity team. You will own the capacity plan, model headroom costs, and build automation to provision resources across regions.

You will extend infrastructure as code, instrument capacity metrics, and tune alerting to surface issues months ahead of impact. You’ll collaborate with teams during migrations, new region launches, and capacity incident response.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in infrastructure engineering, SRE, or capacity engineering.
• Production software engineering experience with owning and operating a service.
• Strong knowledge of IaC (Pulumi or Terraform) and observability tooling.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain capacity plan across regions and instance families.
• Model headroom targets and assess cost tradeoffs for review and sign-off.
• Automate provisioning: reservation, top-up, fleet reconciliation, drift detection.
• Extend infrastructure as code for capacity provisioning.
• Instrument capacity with metrics for saturation, coverage, idle buffer, and latency.
• Develop capacity alerts to surface issues months before impact.
• Support the demand gate for large commitments, launches, migrations, and new regions.
• Contribute to mitigation projects: right-sizing, migrations, autoscaling, workload consolidation.
• Aim to reduce compute cost per database through optimization strategies.
