Willdan Group, Inc. seeks a Plans Examiner to support municipal clients in the Pelham, NY area.

This remote position is based out of New York and involves reviewing construction plans for compliance with the NYS Building Code, zoning rules, and safety standards. You will collaborate with architects, engineers, contractors, and public agencies to facilitate approvals, maintain safety and quality, and provide clear code interpretations.

Qualifications

• New York State Department of State Code Enforcement Certification is required.
• ICC Plans Examiner Certification (Building preferred; additional certifications a plus).
• Experience in municipal or third-party plan review.
• Strong knowledge of NYS code amendments and local regulations.
• Excellent written communication and professional judgment.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed plan reviews for NYS Building Code and local regulations.
• Review architectural, structural, fire and life-safety, accessibility, and egress components.
• Evaluate plans for zoning compliance and amendments.
• Provide clear code interpretations and review comments.
• Coordinate with design professionals, officials and staff.
• Maintain documentation of plan reviews and decisions.
• Assist applicants in understanding code requirements and resolving issues.
• Support municipal operations through consistent code application.
