Job summary

Voyant Photonics seeks a Photonic Layout Engineer to own PIC layouts from floorplan through tapeout. You will develop automated layout methodologies and tackle routing challenges in a fast-paced startup setting.

You will collaborate with photonic designers and engineering teams, implementing dense waveguide routing, die- and reticle-level floorplanning, and reusable layout libraries while ensuring manufacturability and optical performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Photonics, Physics, Optical Engineering, or related field.
• 2+ years of experience in photonic integrated circuit layout, preferably silicon photonics.

Responsibilities

• Develop layouts for photonic integrated circuits from component-level to PICs.
• Translate schematics into manufacturable GDSII layouts.
• Implement dense waveguide routing and multilayer interconnects.
• Create parameterized photonic component cells (PCells) and reusable layout libraries.
• Develop Python scripts for layout generation, routing, and verification.
• Coordinate with photonic designers, packaging engineers, and foundry partners for tapeout.
