Actalent is hiring a Remote Pharmacy Technician to process and review prior authorizations for Medicare and Medicaid patients, with emphasis on Medicare. The role involves intake and technical reviews, data entry, and clinical determinations on approvals and denials in a fully remote, HIPAA-compliant environment.

Qualifications

• Active Pharmacy Technician certification (CPhT)
• Hands-on experience in managed care or similar insurance environment
• Prior authorization processing and workflow experience
• Strong data entry accuracy for patient and insurance data
• Excellent phone-based customer service and professional communication
• Ability to work remotely and independently while meeting performance targets
• Ability to read and interpret insurance documents and SOPs

Responsibilities

• Process and review prior authorizations for Medicare and Medicaid patients.
• Set up PA cases in internal systems and route to review team.
• Make clinical determinations on approvals/denials per SOPs and policies.
• Maintain HIPAA-compliant data entry for all patient information.
• Provide outbound and inbound patient/customer support on PA decisions.
• Work with multiple systems, documenting decisions and tracking status.
• Support rotating holiday coverage and ongoing training in managed care practices.
