Job summary

SGS is seeking a Permanent Unit Technician to monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot Permanent Unit equipment across client sites in the United States and internationally. The role emphasizes safe, reliable operations, preventive maintenance, and continuous improvement to meet client specifications.

Candidates must have strong process control knowledge, read P&IDs, diagnose issues, and support maintenance teams during outages.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; refinery processes or related field preferred.
• 3+ years of experience in process control, monitoring, or a similar industrial role.
• Strong understanding of process control, instrumentation, and automation technologies.
• Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, equipment manuals, and technical documentation.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.

Responsibilities

• Operate, monitor, and troubleshoot Permanent Unit equipment per established procedures.
• Perform routine inspections and adjust equipment to meet requirements.
• Generate daily, weekly, and monthly operational reports for internal/client distribution.
• Monitor real-time process data and respond to abnormal conditions with corrective actions.
• Utilize DCS/PLC/HMI and other control systems to maintain process variables within limits.
• Assist with preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities.
• Coordinate with maintenance personnel during outages and outages and repairs.
• Document logs, maintenance records, and performance data for client audits.
• Travel to client sites in the United States and internationally as required.
